I am a well qualified and highly experienced secondary school teacher, now retired from mainstream teaching. However, I keep up to date with new developments, so that if you choose to come to me, you will be taught by a tutor with in-depth knowledge of current educational practice and exam requirements. This gives me an advantage over native speakers, who often have little or no teaching experience or qualifications.
I was educated in the London Borough of Redbridge, and then went to the Universities of Southampton (first degree) and Reading (as a postgraduate). I spent two years teaching EFL in France; the first as an undergraduate "assistante de langue anglaise". My second year in France was as a postgraduate, in Rouen, Normandy, where I worked as a "lectrice", teaching undergraduates English at the university. In recent years I have also spent a considerable amount of time in Berlin, doing personal research.
I am married and I have two grown-up children, a son and a daughter. My son works in retail banking, where he is a universal banker in Cardiff. My daughter is married to a Frenchman, and now lives in Paris, where she works as an international lawyer. This means that my French is right up to date! I have lived in Surrey since 1981, first in Guildford, and then in Farnham. I have taught in schools all over Surrey, in parts of North East Hampshire, and in Berkshire (Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Boroughs). I have worked in both the state and private sectors, in mixed, single sex and boarding and day schools - so, schools of all kinds. In addition to teaching, I have done some professional translation, and my work has been published in England and in Germany.
I am a keen writer, and I have been a accepted as a member of the Society of Authors. I wrote a book about my father's war-time experiences (hence my research in Berlin). My late father was my co-author, as his war diaries formed a major part of the book, which was published by www.Fightinghigh.com in May 2015.

The photo below (courtesy of The Bournemouth Echo) shows my father, the late Reginald Wilson, and myself, shortly after the publication of our book in summer 2015. Sadly, my father passed away in November 2016, appropriately on Armistice Day.
